Of all the Haitian proverbs, this one resonates the most. The word “resilient” is often used to describe the Haitian people, having overcome everything from slavery to the 2010 earthquake that leveled their capital city and claimed hundreds of thousands of lives. “Little by little,” they say, “the bird builds its nest.”
