After graduation from the Multimedia sequence at UNC-Chapel Hill‘s School of Journalism and Mass Communication, 21 fellow Tar Heels and I embarked on a journey to Ecuador’s Galápagos Islands to document the stories of the people who inhabit the infamous isles. I designed and developed this bilingual site, including a 3D-modeled map interface and a custom video player, from start to finish using object-oriented ActionScript 2. The map interface allowed us to integrate the video documentaries as well as various photographs and informational graphics. All of this would have been much easier with a reliable Internet connection and without the distractions of island life and constant sea lion barking. The project was a finalist for the 2010 South by Southwest Interactive awards.
I created this infographic to explain how hurricanes work and expectations for the 2008 season.
